A South Pasadena Beautiful Tradition: Join the City Sponsored Event that Promotes Eco-Friendly Living & Conservation
The City of South Pasadena’s Public Works Sustainability Division, in partnership with South Pasadena Beautiful and Friends of the Nature Park, invites the community to the Annual Sustainability Fair, Garden Tour, and Plant Swap on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the South Pasadena Arroyo Seco Woodland and Wildlife Park (Nature Park).

This free family-friendly event features engaging activities designed to promote sustainability, environmental awareness, and conservation efforts in the community. Last year’s event drew approximately 300 attendees, and organizers anticipate an even larger turnout this year.
Sustainability Fair: Learn About Green Initiatives
Attendees can meet with the City’s Environmental Services and Sustainability team to learn about South Pasadena’s ongoing eco-friendly programs, including:
- Water conservation rebate program
- Gas-powered leaf blower ban and incentives
- New organics recycling regulations
Visitors can also engage with local environmental organizations, speak with a master gardener, and explore ways to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle.
Plant Swap: Exchange and Grow
South Pasadena Beautiful will host its annual plant swap, where attendees are encouraged to bring a labeled plant for exchange. To maintain balance, participants are asked to limit the number of plants and cuttings they bring.
Additionally, local businesses such as Artemisia Nursery, Bellefontaine Nursery, and Bartlett Tree Experts have generously donated native and drought-resistant plants for the event.
Garden Workshop: Grow Native Plants from Cuttings and Seeds
Horticulture expert Antonio Sanchez of the Santa Monica Mountains Fund will lead a hands-on workshop, “Growing Your Own Native Plants from Cuttings and Seeds.” Participants will learn techniques to propagate native plants such as monkeyflowers, sages, and bush sunflowers, as well as tips for successfully growing plants from seeds.
Guided Garden Tour and Activities for All Ages
Visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the park, led by knowledgeable volunteers, to explore South Pasadena’s blooming native plant landscape. Families can participate in kid-friendly activities like the Story Path and Nature Scavenger Hunt.
