The South Pasadena Planning Commission will convene a special public hearing on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to discuss and potentially recommend key zoning amendments aimed at facilitating housing development.
The meeting will focus on proposed updates to the General Plan, Housing Element, Downtown Specific Plan, and Zoning Code/Zoning Map. These amendments specifically target the establishment of height limits in mixed-use zones and the Housing Opportunity Overlay zone, as well as other standards designed to support housing growth across the city.
Aiming for More Housing Through Strategic Zoning
The Planning Commission’s discussion will build upon ongoing efforts to address South Pasadena’s housing needs by refining zoning regulations that determine building height, density allowances, and development standards. The changes are intended to align with California’s housing mandates and help the city meet its Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) goals.
If approved by the Commission, the recommendations will be forwarded to the South Pasadena City Council for further consideration and possible adoption.
Community Involvement Encouraged
City officials invite residents, stakeholders, and community members to attend and participate in the hearing. Public input will play a crucial role in shaping the policies that govern future development in South Pasadena.
