Pasadena Dance Theatre returns with its beloved, magical production of The Nutcracker Ballet to the San Gabriel Civic Auditorium for four performances only!  Choreographed by Artistic Director Cynthia Young, the production features PDT’s professional company, joined by a cast of over thirty young dancers in the children’s roles in the ballet. Don’t miss the return of this Southern California holiday tradition where South Pasadena’s own Stella Abrera, former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, danced for several years. It’s become a well-loved tradition in the area and makes for a wonderful outing for the whole family!

Cynthia Young, Artistic Director, tells us “Everyone at PDT is thrilled to be back in the historic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse presenting the beloved Nutcracker Ballet. I have cast older dancers in the many children’s roles and made numerous choreographic adaptations to the production putting the health and welfare of the cast first. It is exciting to bring life back into the theater and share this family event with our loyal audience. Don’t miss The Nutcracker this year, there will be something new for everyone.”

Several dancers in the production are residents of South Pasadena, including members of the children’s cast  Ava Torres, Paloma Lakoff and Liana Zangwill. Principal Dancer, Jessamyn Vedro, also of South Pasadena, dances the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
