Spark of Love | South Pasadena Fire Department Sees Unprecedented Amount of Donations

Over 30 families helped as the South Pasadena Fire Department brings in one of the largest donation efforts on record

About 30 local families benefited during the holiday season as the South Pasadena Fire Department reports it had one of the busiest donation years on record.

Hundreds of gifts were brought to the station.

Firefighter/Paramedic Justin Miller coordinated the effort in distributing a large number of toys to families in need as part of the Spark of Love campaign.

Moms and dads joined children as invited guests to the station to select toys. The remaining gifts were contributed to the City of El Monte, where approximately 20 additional families were helped at a time of need.

ABC7 and Southern California Firefighters, including those from South Pasadena, asked individuals to support the 2018 Spark of Love Toy Drive. Residents were encouraged to bring unwrapped toys and sports equipment to the South Pasadena Fire Department, 817 Mound Ave, until Dec. 24.

Meanwhile, the South Pasadena Police Department was featured in “Behind the Badge,” a California law enforcement magazine for the 13th annual Christmas Toy Fly-in.

South Pasadena police officers teamed with some in Pasadena in flying Santa Claus in a helicopter to drop off toys to children at pediatric units during the holiday season.
