“Operation Cookie” for hospitalized, homeless, and special needs veterans is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, at the South Pasadena Woman’s Club.
Cookies will be distributed to veterans throughout the Southland, including patients at VA hospitals, to veterans in area convalescent care facilities, to the Wounded Warriors Battalion at Camp Pendleton, to homeless veterans served by the VA, and to other groups serving physically and emotionally challenged men and women veterans.
“We hope you already have you favorite cookie recipe planned or will shop for cookies at your favorite bakery or market,” said Operation Cookie organizer Barbara Biber. “Your donation of cookies, time, volunteer service and financial support in the past has been sincerely appreciated. And we hope we can count on you this year.”
Cookies, a minimum of two dozen, may be delivered to the Woman’s Club at 1424 Fremont Avenue between 7 and 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, or the evening before (4-7 p.m.) on Tuesday, May 21. Convenient curbside service is available both days.
Biber is also looking for volunteers to help pack the cookie boxes in cartons or transport them to the various hospitals and veterans groups in the region. Financial support is also welcome.
