
Three $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to South Pasadena High graduating seniors May 13 during the Oneonta Club’s monthly meeting at the War Memorial Building in South Pasadena.
Successful applicants were selected from the 2019 South Pasadena High School’s graduating class. Funds were raised through the Oneonta Club Foundation.
The Oneonta Club Foundation has provided scholarships for college bound students since 1975, when Phillip V Swan established the Foundation.

Awardees have studied at prestigious universities throughout the United States. Last year’s winners – Kate Ba, Bethany Chen and Natalie Terhune – are currently enrolled at UC Berkeley, USC and UC Irvine, respectively.
In addition to the student awardees, one elementary and one secondary South Pasadena Unified School District teacher will be recognized by the Foundation.
The Oneonta Club of South Pasadena, founded in 1923, is an organization of community leaders who meet monthly for dinner and programs of general interest.

Over the years, the Foundation has awarded well over $1 million to South Pasadena students and teachers.

The public is most cordially invited to attend the Oneonta Club Foundation Scholarship Dinner on Monday, May 13, at the South Pasadena War Memorial, 435 Fair Oaks. A wine social hour begins at 6 p.m. followed by dinner.
This month’s keynote speaker is Caltech Senior Faculty Associate in Biology Dr. Alice Huang. Dr. Huang previously taught Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Harvard Medical School, later to become Dean of Faculty of Science at NYU before joining the faculty at Caltech.
The award-winning South Pasadena High School Jazz Band, under the direction of band director Mr. Howard Crawford, will provide musical entertainment.
