The “No Gas South Pas” Effort Continues | AGZA & Electric Leaf Blowers

The South Pasadena ban on gas-powered leaf blowers is in full effect and enforcement efforts are underway.

City staff continues to provide education and outreach on alternative equipment with in-person demonstrations. The city’s community improvement officer has issued more than100 warning letters and dozens of notices of violation around town.

On Monday, September 18, city officials are encouraging residents to look for members of the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) rolling down South Pasadena streets showcasing various models of electric leaf blow and other lawn and garden equipment.

AGZA, a leader in zero-emission landscape maintenance strategies, offers landscape maintenance certification. The organization certified South Pasadena as the first AGZA Green Zone city in the nation. All parks and municipalities in the city are maintained with electric lawn and garden equipment.

“We’ll stop by to say hello to your gardener and show them the kinds of equipment that are available and compliant within South Pasadena,” said Dan Mabe, founder of AGZA, regarding Monday’s visit.

Individuals will also learn how to apply for one of two incentive programs that are available for independent gardeners.
