A group of South Pasadena High’s finest athletes will be recognized on Friday night prior to the Tigers hosting San Marino in the traditional rivalry football game between the two schools.

About a half hour before the 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Roosevelt Field, 24 former student-athletes and a coach will officially be inducted into the SPHS Hall of Fame.

The athletes selected to the prestigious honor start with Kathryn Larkin, a standout tennis player back in 1940, and conclude with the Luck brothers, both graduating in 2016. Greg made his mark in volleyball and basketball while Max showcased his talents in football, basketball and volleyball.

On the coaching side, Tammy Lai earned her place on the list coaching girls’ basketball from 2012 – 2016.

“It’s great to continue the Hall of Fame at South Pasadena High School,” said SPHS Athletic Director Anthony Chan. “There have been a variety of great student-athletes who have walked from Fremont to Diamond and made an impact in our athletic programs. I hope our current student-athletes also see that they can also join that elite company through hard work and dedication. I’m looking at the names. They were all names that have been heard before – whether it be through coaches/teachers and talking about amazing stories from years ago or just hearing these names as I grew up locally. These student-athletes, and coaches, have left a lasting impact on South Pas athletics.”
