Spirits were high and nostalgia in the air as Monterey Hills invited parents to come Back To School! After a warm welcome from Principal Dr. Laurie Narro, outlining highlights from the coming year, the PTA and other organizations spoke to the parents. Then it was time to go meet with teachers, sit in classrooms, eat, socialize and for some, familiarize themselves with the campus.

Crystal Arceo, PTA 1st Vice President, organized the annual Wish Night campaign and Arceo says, “it was a successful night!”

Wish Night is held in conjunction with Back to School Night at the beginning of every school year. This adult-only event is an opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teacher, see the classroom and learn about the upcoming year’s curriculum. Wish Night is MHS PTA’s largest fundraiser. All of the funds donated on Wish Night are used solely to support teachers and students going directly towards enriching children’s education at MHS. Teachers use PTA funds to purchase classroom supplies, books and materials. Their goal this year was to reach 100% participation.

Said MHS parent Alicia Garcia, “Wish night was well organized and informative on how our money is used. The food was amazing and the parents who spoke were inspiring!”
