A Memory Lab is a free space for community members to digitize personal archive collections. In 2022, the South Pasadena Public Library received a grant to open Memory Lab services to community members. After a successful trial run in partnership with the South Pasadena Senior Center, the Memory Lab is now opening to all Library patrons. Using professional-grade equipment, a trained staff member will assist library patrons in digitizing their personal photographs, photo slides, photo negatives, and paper documents no larger than 8.5 x 11.
The Memory Lab, located in the Library Community Room, is open by appointment only on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. Memory Lab appointment slots are two hours long. The Memory Lab at the South Pasadena Public Library is supported in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian. The South Pasadena Public Library is a partner of the Memory Lab Network.
The South Pasadena Public Library is located at 1100 Oxley Street in South Pasadena. The Library Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street. The Library is open Monday, Friday, Saturday 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
