Nearly 8 out of 10 voters chose to retain the level of services that the Utility Users Tax provides. That is an overwhelming show of support. This vote was not just about cutting taxes; it was a referendum on the quality of life in South Pasadena and the level of service provided by local government.
The defeat of Measure N does not eliminate our future budget challenges. We will continue to examine our operations and practices with a goal of becoming even more efficient and customer-focused. However, the Measure N results are a significant vote of confidence in South Pasadena’s local government and the quality of service provided by our police, fire, public works, library, community services and other city departments.
