It appears a strike involving two of Southern California’s grocery chains, which include Vons/Pavilions in South Pasadena and Ralphs and Albertson in Alhambra, will be avoided.

The Grocery Workers’ Union has reached a tentative labor agreement with the markets after their contract expired in March. In June, workers voted to authorize a strike but news outlets reported Monday morning that an agreement has been worked out between both sides.

There are a combined 342 Albertsons, Vons and Pavilions stores and 29,000 unionized employees in Southland and 190 Ralph’s stores and 18,000 employees affected.

Union members still need to vote to approve the deal, which was to have to have taken place as recent as late last week.
