Los Angeles County has officially proclaimed April 22, 2025, as Earth Day and April 28–May 4, 2025, as Air Quality Awareness Week—a time for residents to engage in environmental action and education. With events, volunteer opportunities, and initiatives led by various departments, LA County invites everyone to celebrate the planet and promote clean air.
Take Action Through the OurCounty Sustainability Plan
The Chief Sustainability Office urges the public to participate in shaping the OurCounty Sustainability Plan, the nation’s most ambitious regional blueprint for a greener future. Residents are encouraged to complete the Community Survey by April 30 to share their priorities for environmental initiatives across the County.

Celebrate with LA County Parks: April 20–27
LA County Parks kicks off Earth Week celebrations from April 20 to April 25 at nature centers across the region. Families, students, and nature lovers can enjoy:
- Live Animal Ambassador Presentations – Meet local wildlife up close and learn about their ecosystems.
- Nature Crafts & Activities – Use natural and recycled materials to create Earth Day-themed crafts.
- Educational Talks & Demonstrations – Learn about conservation, sustainability, and local habitats.
- Guided Nature Hikes – Explore scenic trails and discover local flora and fauna.

Earth Day Main Event at San Gabriel River Park
Sunday, April 27, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM, LA County Parks will host a vibrant Earth Day Celebration at San Gabriel River Park (255 S. San Fidel Ave., La Puente, CA 91746). This all-ages event features:
- Park beautification efforts
- Bioblitz and gardening activities
- Compost demonstrations and eco-exhibits
- Litter cleanup and sustainability education
- Recycling drive (drop off plastic bottles and aluminum cans)
- Free supplies for all participants
