The South Pasadena Public Library’s beloved Wonderful Wednesdays series returns this summer with a high-energy performance by comedic juggler Michael Rayner on June 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The kickoff event will be held on the Oxley Street side of Library Park and features Rayner’s “Found Object Juggling Show,” combining absurd tricks, physical comedy, and stand-up. Known for his signature stunt of spinning a Burger King cheeseburger, Rayner promises an evening of “preposterous brilliance” and “whacky jugglement.”
Weekly Events and Storytimes for All Ages
Following the June 11 kickoff, Wonderful Wednesdays will continue weekly, with diverse programming scheduled throughout the summer. Activities include themed storytimes, the opportunity to march in the Festival of Balloons parade, a My Gym activity session, the Walk ‘N Talk Book Club, and the All Abilities Club.
Starting June 10, weekly storytimes will be held at the library:
- Preschool Storytime: Tuesdays, 10:30–11:00 a.m. (ages 3–5)
- Toddler Storytime: Thursdays, 10:30–10:50 a.m. & 11:00–11:20 a.m. (ages 1–3)
- Family Storytime: Saturdays, 10:30–11:00 a.m. (all ages)
Storytimes are designed to promote early literacy, physical development, and essential social skills like listening and cooperation.
Special Events for Kids and Adults
On June 27 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., My Gym Pasadena will present an interactive play session for children ages 1 to 10. The event includes music, dancing, and a reading of A Magical My Gym Day. No registration is required.
For adult programming, the Library continues to offer two inclusive opportunities:
- All Abilities Club (AAC): For adults with disabilities. Meetings on June 13, July 11, and August 8 at 10:00 a.m. in the Library Community Room at 1115 El Centro Street. No registration required.
- Walk ‘N Talk Book Club: A casual, wellness-focused book club that meets on June 11 at 9:00 a.m. on Oxley Street in front of the Library. Advance registration is required at www.southpasadenaca.gov/register.
Summer Reading Program Continues Through August 2
The Library’s Summer Reading Program remains active until August 2. Readers of all ages are encouraged to log their reading, claim prizes, and enjoy special events. The program aims to prevent the “summer slide” by incentivizing daily reading. Research shows that reading just 20 minutes a day significantly improves literacy skills.

Accessibility and Community Engagement
The City of South Pasadena will provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities who wish to attend any of these events. Requests must be made at least four business days in advance by calling (626) 403-7431 or by submitting a form via www.southpasadenaca.gov/ADA.
