“My hope is that every donor from $10,000 to $20,000 knows how much we value them,” said Stacey Peterson, executive director of the organization. “Our families give what they can afford and we appreciate them all.”
Since its establishment in 1979, SPEF has raised more than 11 million dollars to restore and enrich educational programs for Arroyo Vista, Marengo, Arroyo Vista, South Pasadena High and middle schools.
SPEF is the official private fund-raising organization in support of the district’s educational programs. “Just as the PTA works on localized issues at individual schools, SPEF works to provide larger picture funding at all five schools in the district.”
It’s grassroots organization run by parents who care about every student’s experience in school. “Through donations and participation in our enrichment programs is what makes it happen,” explained Petersen. “It wouldn’t happen without them. Our ability to provide additional support to our schools is only possible because of your support. Thank you for having the faith in us to make a difference!”
Those interested in joining the SPEF board can reach out to Petersen at spetersen@spef4kids.org. “I would be happy to discuss what being a SPEF board member entails and how they can be a part of our team,” she said.
