Looking for a great family event this weekend in South Pasadena? You are in for a treat! Our own local South Pasadena Pavilions is celebrating with a chile roast and farmer’s market on Saturday August 19, 2023 from 7:00am-3:00pm in the Pavilions parking lot.
Hatch chiles (also known as New Mexican chiles) are chile peppers from New Mexico, first grown by Pueblo and Hispano communities throughout Santa Fe de Nuevo México. Hatch chiles typically grow from green to a ripened red, and are a popular element of cuisine from the Southwest.
The event will feature Melissa’s hatch chiles in a vast array of products and things to do and see. There will be a variety of hatch chile inspired dishes along with many vendors sampling their products. Hatch chiles are available once per year and can be purchased fresh or roasted by the Melissa’s produce team.
Special bonus activity: South Pasadena Homes will be presenting Snow Cones to cool off from the warm weather. Look for me (Derek Vaughan) to be there in person to create a snow cone masterpiece just for you!
