  • SPHS Production Almost Maine. WISPPA members attended a performance last Sunday and had a great time! The play is funny and poignant and the students are very talented. There are still two performances left – Friday Dec 8 and Saturday Dec 10. See picture of WISPPA group at http://www.wisppa.org/community-events.html.
  • Want to give back during the holidays? 

    • The South Pasadena Fire Department is proud to continue the partnership with ABC7, fellow Southern California Firefighters and newcomers, the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation. Donations of unwrapped toys can be dropped off at various locations: South Pasadena Fire Department lobby 7 days a week between the hours of 7 am – 8 pm; South Pasadena South Pasadena Police Department lobby & City Hall during normal business hours.
    • South Pasadena Senior Center is collecting gift cards, packaged cookies and candy to create meaningful, cheerful and tasty gift baskets for elders who are isolated and homebound. Donations will be accepted at the Senior Center from December 1 – 15. Call 626-403-7360 for more info.
    • Options for Learning will be collecting new toys, canned food and more – they will have a box for donations at Priority One Credit Union through the holiday season.

SPHS Drama Department Almost Maine Friday Dec. 8th, Saturday Dec, 9th. It is hilarious, it is sad, heartbreaking; it’s sort of a romantic comedy but in the best way. It’s people who are full of pain and longing who end up falling in love and it’s beautiful when it happens, and sometimes it doesn’t. Breakfast with Santa December 9 at 9:00 am to 11:30 am Santa is coming to town! Our annual Breakfast with Santa event is fun for the whole family! We will have crafts, music, and a tasty hot breakfast. Parents, make sure to have your camera ready, Santa will be available for photos! Please plan to arrive early; doors will close at 9:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 per person, children under 2 are free. Everyone in attendance must have a ticket. South Pasadena Beautiful Winter Garden Tour Saturday, December 9 from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 noon. Celebrate the season with a private tour and holiday treats and drinks. Rep. Chris Holden’s Holiday Open House and Shoe Drive, Tuesday, December 12, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Share good company with fellow community members and participate in our annual shoe drive. We are partnering with Shoes That Fit, a local charity that provides shoes and socks to children in need. Last year we collected over 200 pairs of shoes and socks! You are invited to make a difference in a child’s life this year by donating a new pair of athletic shoes and/or socks (in youth size 10 through adult size 12). SPARC Holiday Ornament Workshop Thursday, December 14, 6-9 pm SPARC is hosting our 2nd Annual Holiday Party in partnership with Bullseye Glass Resource Center LA. While you enjoy food, drinks, and good friends, you also will be able to participate in their Ornaments in Kiln-glass class. Bull’s Eye will have staff on hand to guide you through two different fun and educational projects in its studio. They’ll be heated in kilns and pieces will be available for pick up a few days later. The Ornaments Workshop is limited to the first 75 people to register! Space is LIMITED, so RSVP to reserve your spot! Embroidery Workshop Saturday Dec. 21 3 PM – 5 PM $40 includes materials, snacks, and beverages. Learn the basics of embroidery or practice what you already know and customize a mini hoop with your favorite holiday design. Series of music concerts produced by the Pascale Music Institute (formerly the South Pasadena Strings Program) sponsored by the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena. The concerts will include a variety of music from Classical to Jazz and will be held the first Sunday of the month (2017-2018) at the Clubhouse. Professional musicians from the LA Philharmonic and students and faculty of the Institute will perform. Proceeds benefit the Club’s historic Building Restoration Fund. Let it snow! The Community Services Department will host the 3rd annual “Snow Day” event.Join us on Saturday, January 20 from 11 am to 3 pm at Garfield Park. We will have sled runs, snow play, crafts, and our Tot Land area for younger children will also be available. Subject to availability, wristbands will be sold for $15 day of the event. Children under 2 years are free with one paid adult. Each wristband is good for 45 minutes of access to snow play and sled runs, there will be four 45 minute sessions.
