Forte Salon in South Pasadena is now in its 26th year. After being closed for months due to COVID-19, this woman-owned business and full-service salon offering hair, nails and skin care is just gearing up to get back to speed and open.
Making sure their clients observe continuing safety protocols, the salon’s owners, Jacky Samartin and Dorene Lee ,will limit appointments by having all customers book individually by phone.
And that means having to call each specialist on his or her own phone number.
“Everyone here is self-employed, so they have their own lines,” co-owner Dorene Lee said. “And they do their own books.”
The staff at Forte Salon are experienced stylists, esthetician and manicurists, and many of them have been with the salon for several years. The COVID-19 pandemic has not been easy for most of them, as the salon had to close and open, and close again a few times last year.
They hope this time, they will be open for good.
“All of our stylists are multi-year experienced in all different factions of hair and color,” says Samartin. “And we do hair straightening. We do all levels of skin care and all different kinds of nail services. So we love having people come out of their area. We have people that come from San Diego and come up to get serviced in the salon. Nowhere is too far away.”
Among other things, the owners of Forte Salon would like to just let everyone know that their customers are the highlight of their business.
