After another successful event, the SPHS Mediators have announced the next TEDx Salon, themed “Embracing & Breaking Stereotypes.”

If you missed out on the last salon, themed “Connections and Communication,” here is your chance to broaden your horizons at the next one! In the cozy atmosphere of the SPHS library, guests form groups with friends and strangers alike, and settle in to watch several thematic TED Talks. Guests get the unique opportunity to hear the real experiences of students and other members of our community through in-person speakers. This is paired with corresponding TED Talk in video form, providing an expanded global perspective on similar subjects. But beyond simply watching these videos, guests get to have their voices heard too, through facilitated group conversation and share out.

Guests can gain insight into the perspectives of the people around them and engage in respectful and deep discussion, furthering the understanding and personal connections to the content. These events are so much more than a chance to watch some talks; the TEDx salons are an opportunity to challenge yourself to think deeply, open up to a group of new people for meaningful discussion, and truly learn something about yourself, your peers, and the world.
