The South Pasadena Woman’s Club will present their prestigious “Shining Star” award to Ellen Daigle, WISPPA founder, business woman, and commissioner, on September 28.

The high honor will be a part of the Woman Club’s annual Scholarship Fundraiser & Fashion Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the organization’s historic clubhouse, 1424 Fremont Ave.

Originally from New York City, Ellen came to California in 1960. She initially trained as a nurse and spent more than a decade working as registered nurse.

Being a single mom of three daughters, she started Ellen’s Silkscreening in 1978 with the goal of having a career that would allow her to spend more time with her girls.

Daigle quickly found that she loved running a business and Ellen’s Silkscreening grew steadily to become the bustling company that it is today. Ellen’s enthusiasm and warm personality continue to make the shop a friendly and welcoming place to visit and make orders.

The fashion show provides funds for scholarships going to South Pasadena High School seniors each year.

The event includes a luncheon, the latest fashions by Chico’s, a raffle, and music by Josh Aguiar.

Cost is $45 per ticket. For information about purchasing tickets email the club at spwc1899@aol.com or call (626) 799-9309 to leave a message.
