LOS ANGELES – June 10, 2025 – Mayor Karen Bass has announced a nightly curfew in Downtown Los Angeles, effective immediately from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, in a proactive response to recent safety concerns in the area. The curfew will remain in place until further notice.
Mayor Bass made the announcement during a press briefing earlier today, where she was joined by elected officials, law enforcement representatives, and business leaders. The curfew aims to restore order and ensure the safety of residents, businesses, and visitors.
Curfew Details and Enforcement
The curfew applies to the area bounded by the 5, 10, and 110 freeways, and extends to the point where the 110 and 5 freeways merge. Authorities have provided a map to help residents identify the restricted zone.
All individuals must comply with the curfew, though limited exceptions are granted for:
- Law enforcement and emergency responders
- Medical personnel
- Residents traveling to or from their homes
- Individuals commuting to or from work
- Credentialed members of the media
Unified Command and Regional Support
In conjunction with the curfew, Mayor Bass confirmed that hundreds of officers from local and regional police and sheriff’s departments are now working alongside the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) under a unified command structure. This coordinated law enforcement effort is designed to maximize public safety and provide a swift response to any disturbances.
“We are taking this measure to ensure peace and safety for everyone in our city,” said Mayor Bass. “We urge residents to cooperate with law enforcement and follow all guidance during this curfew.”
