Coronavirus Cases at 177 in South Pasadena

Health official says the coronavirus and daily new cases could surpass 100,000 new infections per day if the outbreak continues at its current pace

While COVID-19 continues to take its toll on those worldwide, closer to home two new cases were reported in South Pasadena on Thursday, bringing the total to 177.

Ninety-three of the cases are in the community and 84 have been reported at the South Pasadena Care Center.

A daily record of 63,247 new cases of COVID-19 was reported in the United States on Thursday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

About 53,699 new cases have been reported in the country on average over the past seven days, a record high seven-day average, which is up nearly 17.6% compared with a week ago, based on data collected by Johns Hopkins.

In addition, the seven-day average in the United States has hit a new record daily for more than two weeks.

White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci has warned that that the U.S. is not in total control” of the coronavirus and daily new cases could surpass 100,000 new infections per day if the outbreak continues at its current pace.
