Saying they outgrew their present location, Mamma’s Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta, entering its 13th year of operation, is preparing a short move to the south on one of South Pasadena’s busiest thoroughfares.

Interior construction is underway as work crews have begun work on the restaurant, which is planning to relocate from 710 Fair Oaks Avenue to 1005/1007 Fair Oaks Avenue, just north of the iconic Rialto Theatre.

“We have out grown the space at our current location,” explained Steve Inzunza, who owns the eatery with his wife Jaime.  “The new location will have the same great concept, and a fresh twist here and there, with delivery, dine-in, take-out and catering options.

In addition, Inzunza said the restaurant will have a much larger eating area, a larger kitchen and an area for special occasions, meetings or large group dining.

Construction on the new location, which is the former home of Koi, a women’s clothing store, started two weeks ago. Paradise General Contractors, owned by Sam Hernandez, is doing the restaurant build-out.

The current location will remain open until construction on the new restaurant is complete. Inzunza said he hopes to have the new restaurant open in January.

“We thank the community for their continued support of their favorite independent mom & pop shop!” he said. “We invite the community to monitor our progress and watch for announcements as we go through the build-out process.   So, there will be no disruption to our customers!  Onward!”
