City of South Pasadena Events | Hometown Holidays

The South Pasadena Community Services Department will host four events for the holidays! Events will kick off with the Chamber of Commerce annual menorah and tree lighting on December 1, 2022 at the South Pasadena Farmers’ Market, located at 920 Meridian Avenue.

On Thursday, December 8, 2022 the Community Services Department will host a Gingerbread House Contest and Cookie Decorating event at the South Pasadena Senior Center, located at 1102 Oxley Street, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to create or decorate their very own gingerbread house at home and bring them to the event to be judged by the South Pasadena City Council.

While votes are being cast, participants can decorate and eat holiday cookies. Gingerbread houses will be judged in six categories: Most Creative, Best Constructed, Looks Most Delicious, Most Festive, Most Traditional, and Best Theme. Gingerbread house must be dropped off the Senior Center on Thursday, December 8 between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The Community Services Department will also be hosting the annual Breakfast with Santa event on December 10, 2022 at the War Memorial Building, located at 435 Fair Oaks Avenue, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Attendees will enjoy a pancake breakfast, crafts, and an opportunity to take their own photo with Santa.

Advanced registration is required and all sales are final. Tickets are $23.00 per person, children ages 2 and under are free. Registration is available online on the City’s website using the following link: www.southpasadenaca.gov/onlinereg

The Community Services Department and South Pasadena Public Library will host a Holiday Crafting and Story Time on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the South Pasadena Senior Center. Join us for the opportunity to create four crafts and listen to story times to celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and wintertime!

Santa is coming to town on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He and his friends will be escorted by South Pasadena Fire and Police Departments. The holiday caravan will begin at 6:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to watch Santa drive by on his route or wait for him at one of the locations listed below. Don’t miss your opportunity to see Santa before he goes back to the North Pole!
