The South Pasadena City Council is hosting a series of public meetings on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Amedee O. “Dick” Richards Jr. Council Chambers, located at 1424 Mission Street. Residents are encouraged to participate either in person or virtually to learn about updates that will directly impact our local neighborhoods.

Early Closed Session

The evening will kick off with a closed session at 5:00 PM. During this early meeting, the City Council will confidentially discuss ongoing and anticipated legal litigation.

Study Session: Community Events

At 6:00 PM, a special Study Session will begin with a focus on local community gatherings. The agenda features items designed to streamline how residents and groups use city facilities.

South Pasadena Real Estate

• Block Parties: The Council will review a newly proposed Block Party Permit Program, seeking feedback on its structure and operational costs.
• Facility Rentals: Officials will consider updates to temporary use permits and field rentals.
• Non-Profit Support: The session includes discussions on fee waivers and establishing a standard Memorandum of Understanding for non-profits that use city assets.

Regular Meeting: Traffic and City Fees

The Regular Council Meeting will commence at 7:00 PM, addressing larger infrastructure and financial decisions. Mayoral proclamations will also celebrate Professional Municipal Clerks Week, Public Works Week, and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

• Traffic Safety: The Council will select a design alternative for the Huntington Drive and Fremont Avenue Corridor, which includes evaluating a roundabout at Fremont Avenue and Hope Street.
• City Budgets & Fees: A public hearing will be held to adopt the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Master Fee Schedule and the User Fee Cost Recovery Policy.
• Local Business: The Council will discuss the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce’s economic development services funded by the Business Improvement Tax.
