Ever mindful of the important to clean up the environment, the City of South Pasadena was doing its part on Saturday as the not one, but two E-Waste drop offs were stationed in town.

Residents were encouraged to bring electronic equipment that is no longer wanted to either South Pasadena High School or the Arroyo Seco Golf Course. Items included computers, printers, televisions, VCRs, cell phones, fax machines, stereos, and electronic games. Electronics may contain lead, copper, and other heavy metals or potentially toxic substances.

In addition, Dumpster Day, now scheduled twice a year, was held on Arroyo Drive, near the Arroyo Seco Park entrance, providing an opportunity for the community to bring unwanted items –from mattresses to refrigerators to everything in between.

A spokesperson for Athens Disposal said Dumpster Day will be held in April and October each year to give residents two opportunities to throw items away.
