Cancer Survivor Speaks at Rotary Club

Speaker at the July 10th meeting of the Rotary Club spoke about his treatment.

Cancer survivor Sal Mariscal was the speaker at the July 10 meeting of the
Rotary Club of South Pasadena. Mr. Mariscal described his consideration of
treatment options for prostate cancer, eventually settling on a relatively
new procedure of proton therapy which was successful and resulted in no side
effects. Mr. Mariscal spoke on behalf of the California Protons Cancer
Therapy Center in San Diego.

The scheduled speaker for the July 17 Rotary meeting is South Pasadena Poet
Laureate Ron Koertge. Mr. Koertge is a 35 year resident of South Pasadena
and the author of ten acclaimed poetry collections. He is also the author
of ten popular novels for young people. Mr. Koertge has taught writing at
a number of American universities. He has also taught at Pasadena City
College for 37 years.

The Rotary Club of South Pasadena meet every Tuesday at noon in the Tower
Room at the Oneonta Church with the exception of the first Tuesday of the
month when they meet at The Canoe House at 6 pm for an informal social
gathering. Guests are welcome at all meetings.
