South Pasadena Preservation Foundation Presents
Brunch and a Historic Home Tour
By the Architect Lawrence Stimson
A Gorgeous Sprawling Home on Oak Lawn
Join SPPF for a festive outdoor brunch with an exclusive look inside one of the grandest houses on Oaklawn Ave.!
Builder/designer G. Lawrence Stimson’s flights of fancy included a dizzying variety of window designs, a dramatic entry staircase, and rich woodwork throughout that was a clear nod to the style of his colleagues and rivals, Greene & Greene.
At nearly 6,000 square feet with a 40-foot living room, the house exhibits a level of formality that was appropriate for Charles Warren Fairbanks, Theodore Roosevelt’s vice president, who purchased it newly-built in 1909.
John Ripley, a historian and expert on the work of Stimson, will guide walkthroughs of the house at 10:30 and 11:30.
This home has been in the same family for over 55 years.
