The Fire Department recently purchased a new “Auto-Pulse” automatic CPR device. The CPR device is designed to provide maximum efficiency in performing chest compressions and ventilations during a full cardiac arrest.

The average return of spontaneous circulation in a full arrest patient in L.A. County without the auto pulse is 10%. Departments currently using the Auto Pulse are reporting spontaneous return of circulation in 80% of their patients.

The device also allows efficient CPR to be performed during patient treatment and transport to the hospital. The Department will be one of the first agencies in L.A. County to utilize the auto pulse as a front line apparatus.
