All-Star Sets Sights on Chicago | Ella Cornwell’s Athletic Endeavors

Resident Ella Cornwell has been a standout student-athlete over the years at Pasadena Poly

Ella Cornwell, a multi-sport athlete at Pasadena Poly, has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Chicago next fall to compete in the track and field team.

Cornwell, who recently graduated from Pasadena Poly, is a 3-time Prep League champion in the shot put and captured double gold this year by also winning the discus, with a new school record of 108 feet 3 inches.

She competed in the discus at the CIF Division 4 track and field championships at El Camino College in May.

In addition to being the captain of Pasadena Poly’s track team, Cornwell was a three-year member of the water polo team, which won CIF title during her sophomore year and reached the CIF semi finals this past year with Ella in goal.

Cornwell is a three-year starter for the Poly softball team. She was also a member of the junior varsity volleyball team for four years.

Ella is a lifelong resident of South Pasadena. She attended Marengo Elementary School before heading off to Pasadena Poly for middle and high school. She is the daughter of parents Tom Cornwell and Deb Vogel.
