Hundreds of kids dashed, leaped, sprinted and, for the most part, laughed and smiled Friday afternoon while showcasing their athletic talents in the All-City Track Meet at South Pasadena High School.
The place was gushing with fun.
Students in all grade levels from South Pasadena’s elementary school’s – Vibrant Orange representing Marengo, Neon Yellow for Monterey Hills, and a Cool Blue suiting Arroyo Vista – along with Holy Family took part in the meet as parents, grandparents and friends looked on, applauding all participants while packing the bleachers in Solari Stadium.

Good sportsmanship was the No. 1 rule on this day!
Oh, and it was loud as the crowd sometimes let out thunderous roars, especially in tight competitions when it came down to close finishes.
Students spurred on their school mates taking part in the an annual event that pits four schools in a variety of events, from a series of sprints, including the 50, 400 and 800 meters, relays to field events, featuring the high jump and long jump and shot put.
The top three finishers in each event were awarded medals, but school district officials stressed that everyone was a winner after demonstrating good sportsmanship and teamwork.
Volunteers were in abundance, timing competitions, measuring heights and distances, and encouraging the young athletes to do their best.
