PHOTOS: Ribbon Cutting Welcomes Republic of Lucha | Wrestling Legends Penta and Fenix Open New Gallery

The first time watching the Lucha Brothers in action is like watching two supernatural entities unleashed; soaring through the air, exuding no fear, exhibiting incredible strength and stamina — monumental personalities and talents hidden beneath elaborate works of art, in the truest sense of the word.

Penta Zer0em and Rey Fenix, are two decorated veterans of the international wrestling circuit, sharing years of professional experience (and family lineage as brothers). Not only must the two have hundreds, if not thousands of stories to tell, they also have a shared passion for the sport with gallery cofounder, Javier Robles.

The newest, and highly unique, addition to the neighborhood was officially welcomed by South Pasadena City Council and the Chamber of Commerce on Friday, March 5.

Above all else, the mission of the gallery is to share the rich culture and history of Lucha Libre, which commonly has been considered to have a more underground appeal in the states, but has seen a rise in popularity.

The image of the luchador is is a relatively common depiction of Latinx culture for many, but the significance behind the sport, personas, and of course, the masks runs far deeper than what you may know.
