A documentary entitled, “Life in Plastic: California’s Recycling Woes,” will be shown on Tuesday, December 10, from 6 to 7 p.m., in the South Pasadena Library Community Room.
“As California deals with the fallout of a global waste crisis, plastic manufacturers continue to spread misleading information about recycling, while spending big on lobbying efforts to keep their products on the shelves,” reads a flyer promoting the event. “The 30-minute investigative documentary does a deep dive into California’s struggling recycling industry and reveals a 30-year corporate lobbying strategy to keep the myth of plastic recycling alive and well.”
The screening, presented by the South Pasadena Natural Resources and Environmental Commission, will include a visit by Amy Hammes from the Burbank Recycling Center, who will be part of a discussion at the conclusion of the hour-long event.
