The City of South Pasadena will hold a community meeting Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the South Pasadena Middle School auditorium, 1500 Fair Oaks Ave., to provide an update on the Huntington Drive-Fremont Avenue Corridor Improvements Project and gather resident feedback.
The project was originally bundled as one, but the city says the Huntington Drive portion will move forward as planned. The Fremont Avenue portion will be delayed while the city considers technical challenges and resident feedback regarding existing right of way, prescriptive easements, parking and landscaping.
A separate meeting for the Fremont Avenue portion will be scheduled once the city has more information and an updated project timeline.
About the Project
Throughout 2026, the city hosted a series of community meetings to gather public feedback on proposed designs for Huntington Drive (from Alhambra Road to Garfield Avenue) and Fremont Avenue (from Columbia Street to Alhambra Road). Following those meetings, the City Council approved design concepts for the two corridors in May and June, respectively. The concepts include upgraded traffic signals, sidewalk repairs, street resurfacing and new bike lanes.
Funded by Metro, the project aims to close active transportation gaps by introducing bicycle facilities, improving sidewalks and upgrading traffic signals to enhance safety, accessibility and multimodal connectivity.
