With a packed house and student voices loud enough to raise the roof, SPHS drama teacher Nick Hoffa kicked off the school year with the official announcement of the 2026 SPHS fall play and 2027 spring musical in the Little Theater on Monday, August 17, 2026.
The first Drama Club meeting of the year featured Hoffa, who introduced both marquee events by emphasizing that the selections were chosen to grow the students in areas that would challenge them to become better actors.
The captive audience roared when they heard the announcement of “Rio Hondo,” a classic western with humorous twists, as the fall play. In the spring, students will take on “Come From Away,” the true story of 7,000 stranded airline passengers and crew members who were unexpectedly diverted to the small town of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada, when U.S. airspace closed following the September 11 attacks in 2001.
