The South Pasadena Police Department is seeking direction on a new technological frontier for the city. During the regular meeting, they will present an evaluation of prospective vendors for Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology.

November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election to be Cancelled?
In a move that highlights a very quiet local election season, the Council is set to cancel the November 3, 2026, General Municipal Election for District 5 and the City Treasurer.
Chief City Clerk Nikima S. Newsome certified that the nominated candidates are running entirely uncontested. Consequently, the city can legally bypass the ballot and appoint them directly to full four-year terms.
This procedural step avoids unnecessary election costs. It successfully keeps those taxpayer funds within the city’s budget for other critical needs.
Preserving History and Upgrading Infrastructure
The evening’s consent calendar also reveals a flurry of ongoing civic maintenance and historic preservation. A proposed Letter of Intent would allow the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association to lease city property at 435 South Fair Oaks Avenue.
Meanwhile, five historic homes are up for Mills Act contract renewals. This program remains essential for preserving the architectural soul of South Pasadena.
On the infrastructure front, the War Memorial Building has officially completed its audio-visual system upgrade. Additionally, the Indiana Avenue Reconstruction Project is set to receive an additional $384,640 in engineering design funds to keep neighborhood improvements on track.
