On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at about 1:50 am, a South Pasadena Police Officer was in the area of Newtonia Street and Maycrest Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. This area is just south of South Pasadena City limits.
The officer drove by a parked vehicle on Maycrest Avenue and noticed the occupant in the driver’s seat ducked to avoid being seen by the officer. As the officer made a U-turn to contact the subject, the subject exited the vehicle and fled the scene. It was later discovered that he had entered a nearby backyard to hide from the officer. The subject left behind his wallet and officers learned that he had an outstanding felony probation violation warrant.
Other officers arrived on scene and remained in the area to see if the subject would re-emerge. Several minutes later, the subject ran to his vehicle, entered it and led officers on a short vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, the suspect disabled his vehicle by driving over a large rock and he ultimately surrendered to officers. The suspect also hit a South Pasadena Police patrol vehicle and another parked vehicle, causing minor damage to both. There were no injuries sustained by the suspect or officers.
The suspect, forty-four-year-old Maxence Labbe of Altadena, was arrested for the felony warrant and Felony Evading. He was taken to the Pasadena City Jail for booking.
