When does camp start?
Monday August 3rd, at 9am sharp, we will start working on this fun musical! Below is some information so that you can be prepared for your camp days.

Doors open for campers at 8:45am. One of the directors or assistants will be at the door to greet you until 8:59am. If you are running late, send your camper right into the theatre, put their stuff down at one of the seats, and join us on stage as quickly as possible for warm ups!

Please arrive a few minutes early with your healthy breakfast already in your tummy so that you can use the restroom and say hi to your friends before we call you on stage to start our day.

What should I wear to camp?
Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move easily in. ALL shoes must be closed toe shoes. This is an active theatre with sets being built. In addition to protecting your feet from hardware, when you are on stage you want your feet protected from, well, someone who may be going the wrong way.

What should I do if I will be arriving late on camp and/or show days?
If you are ever running late, even just one minute, please text your child’s name and ETA to Cade at 626-590-6156. Please put this number in your phone and use it for time sensitive emergencies only.  Any and all other questions should be sent to our email address – [email protected]

What should I bring to camp?
A Snack and a bottle of water with your name on it or money to purchase snacks and/or a disposable water bottle (items are $3 each).  Lunch with utensils if needed, nothing that needs to be microwaved or refrigerated.
A Pencil.  Your script and notebook (you will get these at the first day of camp – bring it every day -even on performance days!)

What can I bring to eat and drink?
During the day we will take a snack break and a lunch break. We do have candy bars, chips, and bottled water for sale for $3, but if you prefer other nutrition, feel free to bring whatever you need to keep you going. For lunch, you should bring something that does not need to be refrigerated or cooked. As for beverages, we ask that you bring water only. Drinks tend to spill and when they have sugar in them we get bugs and that is no fun for anyone.

When and where should I pick up my camper? We offer after care from 3pm-5pm. You can pay $30 cash a day at pickup, or prepay $125 for a week through an invoice. Reply to this email if you know that you need a week to reserve your space.

Each day will have a specific activity planned for the kids. We will send more specifics out soon.

If you find yourself needing your child to stay late on any one day, text Cade at 626-590-6156 so she can let them know that you will be picking them up later, and then you can pay her for that day at pickup.

On regular camp days, if not staying for after care, please arrive no later than 3pm sharp to pick up your camper. For the safety of the campers, we do not allow parents to wait in the lobby. The kids and the counselors do not know you all personally so we don’t know who is a parent and who is a stranger, so please just wait outside of the Fremont Ave entrance and we will walk them out to you at 3pm sharp for pickup.

On show days, campers should be ready for pick up 2 hours after the show is finished. The show is not 2 hours long, however, they need time to get out of costume, hang them up, and clean their areas in the dressing rooms! Please wait for them outside on the front sidewalk since we do not have enough room in the lobby for all families to wait for their children.

On show days:
The showtimes are Saturday August 8th and Sunday August 9th at 2pm and 6pm. All campers will be in all four shows. Some campers may have the same role in both shows or 2 different roles in each show. The cast list will be announced on day 2 of camp.

Between 2 shows on show days: The campers can either bring their own lunch to have at the theatre, leave with their family to have lunch, or with a note from their parents, they can walk with an unsupervised group of fellow cast mates to a nearby restaurant.

Camp and show attendance
This being a performance based camp, it is vital that all campers attend camp as much as possible. If you know now that you will be absent, late, or need to leave early for any of the camp days OR if you will not be available for any of the shows let us know by replying to this email ASAP so we can plan accordingly.

Campers with unexcused absences will not be invited into our YSTA Membership company which has low monthly dues and fun benefits, discounts, and events that more than outweigh the dues payments.

When can I buy tickets to the shows?
Tickets will be for sale at https://www.ystacademy.com/buytickets on the second day of camp, after the cast list is released.

What time do I need to be at the theatre on show days?
Call time for the first show of the day is 1 hour and 15 minutes before the show begins, for the second show, 1 hour before.

What should I wear to the theatre on show days?
Specialty costume pieces will be supplied by the theatre. You are asked to supply your shoes, socks, and undergarments (a base costume like bike shorts and a tank top, that you will wear under your costumes so you are covered and comfortable to change your costume pieces over them).  A detailed list of what you need to bring will be sent after the show is cast and will be needed by the first day of the second week of camp.

The camp directors will be outside to meet you on the first day of camp. If you have any questions, it is best to email us here so we can take care of any thing you may need before the first day of camp since we will be anxious to get started!!!
