Today, in celebration of National Red Rose Day, volunteer Members of the Tournament of Roses Association surprised hundreds of people with longstemmed red roses. This act of spreading cheer embodies the Tournament of Roses’ community spirit.

The red rose, the iconic symbol of the Rose Parade® and Rose Bowl Game®, has long been recognized as a symbol of love and gratitude – and it is with gratitude that the “White Suiter” volunteer Members took to the streets of Pasadena.

A Foothill Transit bus wrapped in images of red roses kicked off the festivities as volunteer Members distributed long-stem red roses to transit riders and community members along Colorado Boulevard. The celebration continued in Old Pasadena, where Members handed out roses and shared smiles with residents, visitors and lunchtime crowds.

“Red Rose Day is one of our favorite traditions because it lets us connect directly with the community and brighten someone’s day with a simple gesture,” said 2027 Tournament of Roses President Terry Madigan. “A single rose can create a smile, start a conversation and make someone feel welcome.”

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses extends its gratitude to Passion Roses for generously donating hundreds of beautiful red roses that made today’s celebration possible. Special thanks also to Foothill Transit for helping spread joy throughout Pasadena and bring Red Rose Day to life through its partnership and support.
