After two extended Off-Broadway engagements in New York, along with acclaimed runs in Chicago and London, Tony Award–nominated performer Eddie Izzard is bringing her celebrated solo staging of Hamlet to Los Angeles. The production, adapted by Mark Izzard and directed by Selina Cadell, will play seven performances only, from January 22 to 31, 2026, at The Montalbán Theatre.

Tickets start at $85.00 and will go on sale Tuesday, November 18 at 10:00 AM via Ticketmaster.com.

A Critically Acclaimed Solo Performance

Presented by WestBeth Entertainment, Hamlet received:

  • A New York Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance
  • A Drama League Distinguished Performance Award nomination

In this widely praised staging, Izzard portrays 23 distinct characters — kings, queens, scholars, lovers, fools, ghosts, and more — in a streamlined, accessible retelling of Shakespeare’s tragedy that has resonated with audiences worldwide.

Critics have hailed Izzard’s performance as a masterwork:

  • The New York Times called it “surprisingly traditional and deadly serious.”
  • BroadwayWorld urged audiences to “buckle up for some gloriousness.”
  • New City Stage praised it as “a tremendous accomplishment all around.”
  • Dame Judi Dench deemed the London run “spectacular.”

Chicago Tribune critic Chris Jones wrote that Izzard delivers a “near-flawless textual performance,” adding that her interpretations of the soliloquies arrive with “genuinely startling alacrity.”
