A Noise Within launches its 2025–26 “Songs from the Volcano” season with One Man, Two Guvnors, the riotous, Tony Award-winning farce by Richard Bean. Adapted from Carlo Goldoni’s 18th-century comedy The Servant of Two Masters, the play opens September 6 and runs through September 28, following previews starting August 31.
This vibrant production, directed by ANW co-artistic directors Julia Rodriguez-Elliott and Geoff Elliott, fuses slapstick humor with the live energy of a skiffle band performing original songs by Gary Olding, under the musical direction of Rod Bagheri.

A Hilarious Tale of Double Trouble in 1963 England
Set in Brighton during the colorful and rebellious swinging ’60s, the plot follows Francis Henshall, a chronically hungry and out-of-work musician who lands two jobs in one day—unfortunately, with two different bosses who mustn’t find out about each other. Meanwhile, both bosses are tangled in a web of love, disguises, and mob entanglements.

Leading the cast is ANW resident artist Kasey Mahaffy as Francis, with performances by Ty Aldridge, Lynn Robert Berg, Christie Coran, Luis Kelly-Duarte, Henri Lubatti, Evan Lugo, Josey Montana McCoy, Trisha Miller, Cassandra Marie Murphy, and Paul David Story.

“It’s a fabulous adaptation, filled with witty, irreverent social commentary and unapologetic farce,” said Elliott. Rodriguez-Elliott added, “The live skiffle band and ’60s setting bring a fresh, rebellious energy to the show.”

The Music Behind the Madness
Skiffle—a genre blending blues, bluegrass, and folk with homemade instruments—adds a playful beat to the production. Influential in shaping early British rock, skiffle inspired legends like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who.
