A structure fire in the 600 block of Grand Avenue was swiftly contained by firefighters from South Pasadena and neighboring cities on Wednesday, July 2, thanks to a fast and coordinated response that prevented injuries and widespread damage.
At approximately 1:03 p.m., the South Pasadena Fire Department responded to reports of a fire involving a detached single-story garage. Engine 81 was first on scene and found the structure fully engulfed in flames, with the fire threatening to spread to a nearby building and recreational vehicle (RV).
Mutual Aid and Quick Action Prevent Major Damage
Crews from the Pasadena and Alhambra Fire Departments also responded to the incident, working alongside South Pasadena firefighters to contain the blaze. Fire hoses were rapidly deployed, and teams launched an aggressive fire attack, which successfully stopped the fire from spreading to adjacent structures.
The firefighters also conducted a thorough search of the scene to ensure there were no trapped occupants. Additionally, they secured pets on the property, ensuring no injuries were reported to residents, pets, or firefighters.
Cause Under Investigation
Thanks to the fast, strategic efforts of all involved units, the fire was contained to the unit of origin, minimizing property loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
