The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced $52.5 million in available grant funding for community-based organizations that provide suicide prevention and emergency clinical services to Veterans at risk.
The grants are part of the Staff Sgt. Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program, an initiative focused on blending public-health and evidence-based approaches to reduce Veteran suicide across the country. The program was established under the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act of 2019.

Organizations may apply for grants of up to $750,000, with the opportunity to renew awards annually. Applications must be submitted by 4:59 p.m. ET on July 18, and the VA will announce awardees by September 30.

VA Reaffirms Commitment to Reaching Veterans in Local Communities
“Reducing Veteran suicide starts with reaching Veterans when and how it’s most convenient for them,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “One of the best ways to accomplish this mission is by working with community-based organizations. We look forward to ensuring these funds are put to use helping Veterans in need across the nation.”
Since launching in 2022, the Fox Grant Program has distributed $157.5 million to 95 organizations across 43 states, U.S. territories, and tribal lands. The initiative aligns with the VA’s National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide, developed during the first Trump Administration.
About the Staff Sgt. Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program
Named in honor of Staff Sgt. Parker Gordon Fox, the grant program funds innovative approaches by nonprofits and local providers to improve crisis intervention, mental health treatment, and veteran outreach. By emphasizing partnerships outside the VA, the program seeks to extend the reach of support services directly into communities.
