The Pasadena Chorale will conclude its 2024–2025 season with Sing America Part Two: E Pluribus Unum, a powerful and wide-ranging celebration of American choral music. The free concert will take place on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Pasadena. Tickets are free but require advance reservation.
A Musical Tapestry of American Identity
Building upon the themes of Sing America Part One, this second and final installment in the series broadens its scope to reflect the rich, evolving landscape of American choral music. The program features Aaron Copland’s rarely performed In the Beginning—a bold setting of the Genesis creation story—and includes additional works by Leonard Bernstein, Randall Thompson, and a host of today’s acclaimed composers.
Among the contemporary voices are Michal Dawson Connor, Emily Feld, Marques L.A. Garrett, Susan LaBarr, and Jen Wang—artists whose music reflects a kaleidoscope of cultural influences and perspectives.
A Century-Long Conversation in Song
The Sing America series explores the story of American choral music as an evolving dialogue spanning more than 100 years. While Part One spotlighted under-recognized Black women composers Florence Price and Margaret Bonds, Part Two continues that exploration across a broader range of backgrounds and eras.

“Out of an incredibly diverse range of musical points of view, something like an American sound emerges—beautiful, raw, and expressive,” said Jeffrey Bernstein, Founding Artistic and Executive Director of the Pasadena Chorale. “Come hear it for yourself.”
