A Community Tradition Since 1982
The City of South Pasadena will once again host its cherished Festival of Balloons 4th of July Parade on Friday, July 4, 2025. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. on Diamond Avenue, next to the Library Community Room, and proceeds approximately 0.6 miles to Garfield Park.
Since its founding by civic leaders Ted and Joan Shaw and David Margrave, the parade has become a symbol of hometown pride. As many locals say, “Half the town is in the parade, and the other half is watching it!”
Participants Reflect Community Spirit
The parade will feature local Scouts, elected officials, Little League and AYSO teams, service clubs, and members of the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Committee, proudly riding atop the chassis of the city’s Rose Parade float. Library staff and dozens of children from the Summer Reading Program will march alongside them.
This year’s theme, “Unity in Community: One Nation, One Neighborhood,” invites participants to showcase their creativity through costumes, decorations, and music. Entrants can choose to walk or ride in a decorated vehicle.
