After weeks of hands-on work by dedicated community volunteers, Loma Alta Park is set to reopen on Saturday, May 17, 2025, welcoming back residents and visitors to a revitalized and refreshed public space.
Located in the heart of Altadena, the park has long been a favorite for families, nature lovers, and local youth. Its temporary closure allowed teams of volunteers to undertake crucial upgrades and cleanups to ensure the park remains a safe and vibrant place for all.
Volunteers lead the charge in park transformation
The restoration project was fueled by the efforts of local volunteers, who invested their time and energy into tasks such as landscaping, painting, trash removal, and repairs. Their work not only brought physical improvements to the park but also reflected a renewed sense of community ownership and pride.
Park ready to serve residents again
When Loma Alta Park reopens on May 17, it will host additional new services: satellite senior center, Altadena Library branch, childcare services, Youth@Work job opportunities, and summer concert series (formerly at Farnsworth Park). Loma Alta Park will also reopen its OurSPOT teen center, boast new and larger playground equipment, two new Dodgers Dreamfields, rejuvenated gym and basketball Clippers Court, a new social connection space ‘AltaChat’, and much more.
Loma Alta Park will resume regular hours upon reopening, with updates on special events and programming expected in the coming weeks.
