Armed Suspect Arrested During Early Morning Traffic Stop in South Pasadena

A traffic stop in the early hours of Thursday led to the arrest of a man on federal probation who was found in possession of drugs and an unregistered firearm, according to the South Pasadena Police Department.

Officer Conducts Stop After Suspicious Behavior

At approximately 2:25 a.m., a South Pasadena Patrol Officer observed a vehicle exhibiting suspicious behavior near the 400 block of South Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena. The officer conducted a traffic stop after making additional observations that provided probable cause.

Search Reveals Drugs and Firearm

During the stop, the officer developed probable cause to search the vehicle. Inside, authorities discovered a loaded, unregistered firearm, multiple baggies of cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, as well as a scale. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Alfonso Cue Castro of Alhambra, is currently on federal probation.

Suspect Booked at Pasadena City Jail

Castro was arrested and booked at the Pasadena City Jail. Charges include possession of a controlled substance for sale with an unregistered firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
