Marengo and Monterey Hills Elementary Schools have been named 2025 California Distinguished Schools by the California Department of Education (CDE), recognizing their outstanding academic achievement and positive school environments.

The honor highlights the commitment of students, staff, and parents in creating learning environments that foster growth and engagement.
“This honor recognizes the hard work and dedication of the students, staff, and parents at Marengo and Monterey Hills Elementary Schools,” said Superintendent Geoff Yantz. “These schools are being celebrated for offering exceptional educational opportunities that encourage students to engage and excel.”
Selection Based on State Dashboard Metrics
The CDE selected schools using data from the 2024 California School Dashboard, focusing on academic performance and school climate indicators. Eligible schools demonstrated strong results and growth in multiple performance areas.

Congratulations go to Marengo Principal Noelle Fong and Assistant Principal Whitney Worster, and Monterey Hills Principal Jessica Zavala and Assistant Principal Michael Mora, along with their dedicated teachers and staff.
