If you haven’t been to see Wine & Song at Lost Parrot Cafe, you should make a date on your calendar to get over there for their current residency. It’s a terrific venue with a cozy vibe and delicious food and drink with of course beautifully curated music by Brad Colerick. I am always amazed at the talent he gets to come hang out in our sweet, little town. The crowd is very welcoming, filled with music lovers, so the artists always have a great time. This week, Colerick welcomes two duos, Sweet Niece and Double Batch Daddy, both first timers at Wine & Song.
Sweet Niece are a Pasadena-based indie folk-pop duo consisting of Jesica and Blake Russell. Their latest album entitled Wedding Season is a collection of songs inspired by life events they experienced, or were witness to, during the year leading up to their December 2018 wedding. With a vocal blend that perfectly supports their wonderfully whimsical songwriting, you won’t want to miss this enchanted performance.
Double Batch Daddy are twin brothers Timothy “Mack” Gibbs Zehnder and Tom “Johnny” Zehnder. They meld sunny folk-pop with 1920s birth-of-jazz spirit. Their eclectic style and heartfelt songwriting are a tribute to their father, the legendary John Zehnder who had a long career at McCabe’s Guitar Shop. Exuding unabashed joy and a deep reverence for their craft, they make music reflecting their bedrock values of acceptance, tolerance, and love.
