South Pasadena’s own Tony Gilkyson returns to his hometown for a special live performance on Wednesday, May 7, joined by fellow Southern California artists Rick Shea and Eleni Mandell. The show will take place at The Daily, located at 1119 Fair Oaks Ave, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m.
Known for its cozy ambiance and full bar, The Daily will offer a limited menu during the event, with additional dining options nearby including Golden China, Silverlake Ramen, Ai, and Mamma’s Pizza.
A Night of Americana, Folk, and Intimate Storytelling
Tony Gilkyson, a revered guitarist and producer, has an extensive resume that includes collaborations with Bob Dylan, Dave Alvin, Lone Justice, and more. He has also produced for Exene Cervenka, his sister Eliza Gilkyson, and Eleni Mandell, who shares the stage at this upcoming event.
Rick Shea, a veteran singer-songwriter, honed his craft in the honky-tonks of San Bernardino and has released ten critically acclaimed albums, earning recognition for his powerful voice, skilled guitar playing, and evocative songwriting.
Joining them is Eleni Mandell, a Los Angeles native influenced by punk and jazz icons like X and Tom Waits. After launching her music career in Berkeley, she worked closely with Chuck E. Weiss, and later gave back to the community by teaching songwriting at a women’s prison through Jail Guitar Doors, a nonprofit founded by Wayne Kramer and Billy Bragg.
